On Tuesday I revisited Angkor Wat, this time at sunset, and by bicycle. I cycled swiftly on one of the hostel's bikes and the journey took about 25mins from the south end of Siem Reap, following the river north. The road on the east side of the river is a much quieter and more pleasant alternative to the busy main route on the west side.
Angkor Wat is unusual in that it faces West, so the setting sun illuminates the front gates and terraces with and turns them a beautiful orange to pink colour as the sky recedes into dusk.
